There is no polish involved.
Kitchenaid mixer whisk black residue. I want to cry. My brand new kitchenaid artisan 5 quart model ksm150ps purchased in the past week in march 2016 had the same problem of grey residue around the bowl. For the price i would expect better. Turn the mixer on without any ingredients in the bowl periodically to help prevent this.

Dough hook and the attachment black is rubbing off with my hands. A mechanical only polishing process is used in stainless steel bowls to make them shiny. We only used the mixer a few times and we didn t have a dishwasher back then. Remove the hot utensils from the water wipe off any remaining residue with a soft clean cloth or paper towels.
Apparently this happens when ran through the dishwasher but is clearly a defect and i expect much more from the kitchenaid brand. The beater will not be as shiny as it originally was but the thin layer of oxidization will be removed and will not discolor foods. I don t know how to find the right one from amazon it s the costco hd model. I have only hand washed my attachments and maybe used like 2 3 times.
See additional contact info here. Run the item under cool water and run your fingers over it if you get any gray black streaks at all put it back in the water and boil for another 5 10 minutes. If you have not used your mixer for awhile you can turn it to speed 10 and let the unit run for 2 minutes prior to use. Kitchenaid also recommends using a powdered cleaning agent designed to remove oxidization to remove this residue.
